DEAR PEOPLE WHO POST OTHER PEOPLE’S ART

csj-jade:

THIS SHOULD BE JUST UNIVERSALLY KNOWN BY NOW.

BUT PLEASE.

IF YOU’RE GOING TO POST SOMEONE ELSE’S ART WITHOUT A SOURCE, UH…

DON’T POST IT AT ALL?

OR JUST STATE THAT YOU DON’T KNOW THE SOURCE AND MAYBE SOMEBODY CAN PUT IT FOR YOU.

ALSO, ZEROCHAN AND ALL THOSE ANIME IMAGEBOARDS DO NOT COUNT AS LEGITIMATE SOURCES.

GODDAMNIT IF THEY DID, WE MIGHT AS WELL USE FACEBOOK AS SOURCES.

yo guys listen up

crowry:

guys there is this thing

it’s pretty great

it’s called reverse image search

see what you do is you go here

and you drag your unsourced image and drop it into the search bar

like wow what a hot piece of art, how am i ever going to find the source for this with my unlimited internet resources! i guess i will just not even try!!!!

no.

drag that shit and drop it as instructed.

lo and behold, what is this name i see!???

it is tubbsen! an excellent, wonderful, clever artist, who doubtless expended energy and effort drawing this piece of fanart!

and now you are at the original source, from which you can reblog at your leisure.

this has been a tutorial on how not to be an asshole.

dear Confession/Headcannon blogs etc

dragonlaurita:

mansandwich:

dragonlaurita:

Please stop using fanart for your confessions and/or headcannons.

I’m just like….

even if you source it

how would you like it if people wrote all over the art you worked so hard on.

I wish blogs like this would just use text posts or something.

Or even Manga/anime caps instead of fanart fj;sjfs orz

I’m probably the only one who  thinks this but rrrr

I mean

i would hate to be browing the internet

and then see something I worked so hard on written all over.

I mean, even if it’s nice things, It would bug the crap out of me.

Okay

i’m gonna go and

go back into my hole now….

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This so much, omg Laura you know I back you up bby B l

I don’t mind it as much if they source it and it’s neatly, it still irks me but yeah

But I find it disrespectful when people write a confession or a head canon on a fanart where the artist clearly likes the pairing they drew and took the effort to draw it only to have someone to write on it be like

Well I just can’t see these two together blah blah or I don’t like these together because blah blah, I HATE THESE TWO BECAUSE -BS-

Jeez..

I’m glad you back me up ;;;; and

#also watermarks on gifs with fanart on them

OH GOD YES THIS….. IT BUGS ME SO MUCH… I mean….

like… all you’ve done is put images in layers. It’s not yours and you have no business putting your watermark on it. Even if you source it back, I think it’s stupid that you have to slap your watermark on it.

What if the artists sees it, how are they supposed to know you aren’t just stealing.

Please don’t remove the credit when you reblog post.

And by credit, that includes this:

It’s link back to the original source, contains link to the certain entry AND link to the artist’s page (if the art is from pixiv).

Sorry for being annoying about this. I have at least two reasons.

1. Artists sometimes delete their works so I want there’s link to their page as well in case that happens. I want you to know who created the nice/wonderful/awesome/etc art you like.

2. There’s a probability that the artist will find their artwork posted to other site. They may think that someone stole their arts since some Japanese artists can’t understand English too well. You don’t want they stop drawing/posting their arts, do you? (Well at least I don’t!)
If they see there’s familiar phrase (title + artist name) on the post, they will think that the site just promotes their work or something. (At least I hope so. Well at least I’m trying to make it look like that.)

But you may delete my comment on the post:

I write my comments in smaller font. It’s usually light translation or just silly comment. It’s not important.

Just don’t remove the credit line. That’s what I only want from you (-ω-。)
Thanks for reading.

editing someones work and reposting it with your name added without their permission is incredibly rude, you are essentially spitting in the artist’s face
someone spent lots of time and effort and creativity on a piece and what did you do? you spent ten seconds changing the filters around to make it worse. and you still have the gall to put your name alongside theirs. its like taking a dump on a diamond.
when someone puts their art on the internet it means that they are proud of the finished project. its incredibly rude to take that and completely change without any consent. you are saying that their original work isnt good enough the way it is. giving advice and taking a piece and changing it are two entirely different concepts. artists mean for the colors to look the way they are usually?
the edits never EVER look better than the originals. its a lost cause. no one is going to follow you on tumblr because you edit dumb pictures. its not hard to just post the originals. if you do get the urge to edit something fine but dont repost it?
everyone else is doing it is the worst argument in the book
stop it
youre stupid
